Q1 Narrator In the beginning, God created the world. He created the sky and the earth and everything in them. [When we look at all that God has made, it is amazing.]

Q1 Narrator God created all the different kinds of plants and animals.

Q1 Narrator Then God created a woman(1) to be Adam's wife and companion. She was called Eve. [God created the man and the woman(2) so that they could enjoy a close relationship(3) with him.(4)] They lived with happiness in his presence in a beautiful garden(5) [called Eden(6)]. There was no suffering and no death.

Q1 Narrator God told Adam,(1) "You may(2) eat the fruits of all the trees except one.(3) If you eat fruit from that tree, you will die." But [one day] Satan(4) tempted(5) Eve.

Q1 Narrator So God banished(1) Adam and Eve from the garden(2). [They suffered this shame because they had disobeyed God.]

Q1 Narrator As a result, Adam and Eve and their descendants have all suffered pain(1) and death. [But] God continued to love human beings. He had already prepared a way for them to return and live with him.(2)

Q1 Narrator In the Scriptures, God reveals his plan to save human beings from(1) the punishment they deserve, so that they can live forever in fellowship(2) with him.

Q1 Narrator Abraham trusted God and honored him. God promised to bless him, and to bless people of all nations through him.

Q1 Narrator One day God tested Abraham to see whether he would trust him and obey his commands. He told Abraham to sacrifice his son.

Q1 Narrator [Abraham took his knife].

Q1 Narrator Then Abraham saw a ram(1) [nearby]. [Its horns were caught in a bush(2).] So Abraham took the ram and sacrificed it [to God(3)] instead of his son.

Q1 Narrator When God provided a ram as a sacrifice(1) to die in place of Abraham's son, God showed his great love for people. He also revealed his plan to provide a final sacrifice to die in place of human beings.

Q1 Narrator Long ago God revealed to the prophets that he would send a sinless person to die in place of Adam's descendants(1), and remove their sin and shame(2). [His sacrifice would open the way for those who believe in him to live in fellowship with God [forever].]

Q1 Narrator [Many hundreds of years before he came,] the prophets spoke about the things the Messiah would do and the things that would happen to him.

Q1 Narrator The prophets wrote that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.

Q1 Narrator The prophets said that the Messiah would sacrifice his life [but that God would raise him from the dead [on the third day]]. The prophets called the Messiah "son of man" and said he would re-enter(1) [on a cloud] into the presence of God, and that God would give him authority over all nations forever.

Q1 Narrator 2000 years ago a certain person lived in this world whose name was Jesus. When people saw the things that he did they asked one another, "Is he the Messiah? [Does the life [of Jesus] fulfill what the prophets said about the Messiah?"] This film shows who Jesus is, and some of the things that he said and did, as they are written in the Scriptures.

Q1 Narrator In this film a man plays the role of Jesus. There is no one who is worthy to do this, but this film has been made so that people can know and learn about the life of Jesus [and can receive the blessings that God has promised.]

Q1 Narrator I am writing to you[, dear Theophilus(1),] an orderly account of the things that have taken place among us, so that you may know the absolute truth about everything.

Q1 Narrator [In the days when Caesar Augustus was emperor of Rome, and when Herod the Great was king of Judea,] God sent the angel Gabriel to visit a virgin of the city of Nazareth.(1) And the virgin's name was Mary.(2)

Q1 Angel Gabriel Fear not Mary, for you have found favor with God.(1) You will conceive(2) and give birth to(3) a Son and you will call His name "Jesus."(4)

Q1 Mary (greatly troubled, wondering) How can this be?(1)

Q1 Angel Gabriel The Holy Spirit will come upon you. For this reason the Holy Child will be called the Son of the Most High God.(1) His kingdom will never end.(2)

Q1 Narrator Mary went to visit her cousin(1) Elizabeth, who was too old to have a child. But by a miracle, God had enabled her to become pregnant.(2)

Q1 Mary Elizabeth!

Q1 Elizabeth (loudly exclaiming) Mary!

Q1 Mary My soul magnifies the Lord,(1)

Q1 Mary From now on all generations will call me blessed.

Q1 Official Attention, all men of Nazareth! By command of Caesar Augustus there will be conducted a census of the subject territories of Galilee and Judea. All men must register in the town or city where their ancestors were born.

Q1 Narrator So Joseph went to the town of Bethlehem in Judea to register with Mary, to whom he was engaged.

Q1 Narrator Now there were some shepherds in that part of the country [who were taking care of their flock at night]. Suddenly, an angel of God appeared to them and the glory of God shone about them.

Q1 Angel This very day in David's town your Savior was born. He is Christ the Lord.

Q1 Narrator The shepherds hurried to see the newborn Babe in a manger, and were the first to spread the Good News or "Gospel" of the Savior's birth.

Q1 Narrator A week later, when the time came for the Baby to be circumcised, He was given the name Jesus, and Joseph and Mary took the Child to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord. In the temple there was a good and devout man named Simeon. The Holy Spirit had promised him that he would not die until he had seen the Christ.

Q1 Simeon Lord, now let Your servant depart in peace according to Your promise.

Q1 Simeon For my eyes have seen Your salvation.

Q1 Simeon May you both be blessed.

Q1 Narrator They completed their duties according to the religious law. Then, some time later, they returned to their home in Nazareth.

Q1 Rabbi Whose Child is this who asks such questions?

Q1 Joseph (astonished) He's from Nazareth.

Q1 Narrator All who heard Him were amazed.

Q1 Mary (astonished) Son, why have You done this to us? Your father and I have been terribly worried trying to find You.

Q1 Boy Jesus Why did you have to look for me? Didn't you know that I had to be in my Father's house?(1)

Q1 Narrator And He came with them to Nazareth and increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and with man.
